About Stephanie
Stephanie Stanton, LMBT, CST has 4 years experience specializing in Deep Tissue and Swedish Massage techniques as well as being trained in CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute. Her work is tailored to the needs of the client on that particular day. Her work ranges from deep tissue to relaxation massage or the very light CranioSacral Therapy.
CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy comes from Dr John Upledger. It is a gentle hands on method of evaluating and enhancing the functions of the body. Using a touch of generally no more than 5 grams of pressure, a skilled practitioner can find restrictions and release them by holding areas and waiting for them to release. By assisting the body’s natural healing processes, CST is being used more and more as a way to increase resistance to disease, and can be beneficial in helping many medical issues such as:
- Headaches/Migraines
- Chronic neck and back pain
- Learning disabilities
- Emotional disorders
- Brain Injuries
- Stress disorders
- Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ disorder)
- Along with many more
The effect this therapy has on people is that it helps to correctly align the body so people feel more grounded and able to stand straighter. People walk away from this therapy feeling relaxed and able to focus clearer. Over the next day or several days, people will notice that their body is releasing more and they are continually feeling better.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage helps to break up adhesions within the body by getting to the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. This therapy is helpful for muscles that are chronically tight such as tense necks, painful backs, etc. Deep tissue massage works by breaking down the adhesions in the deeper muscles and helping to get back to a normal alignment. This type of massage is very useful in recovering from injuries and restoring normal movement and range of motion. During this therapy, the client is encouraged to use deep breathing to help the muscles release easier.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
The proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body’s ability to drain fluids, detoxify, regenerate tissues, filter out toxins and foreign substances, and maintain a healthy immune system. It’s a complex system comprised primarily of lymph vessels and nodes working in cooperation to accomplish these tasks.
The LDT process involves the use of subtle manual maneuvers to aid in the recirculation of the lymphatic flow. Specifically, the therapist works with flat hands, using all the fingers to simulate wavelike movements. The pressure applied is generally around five grams, or the equivalent weight of a nickel.
Please note: Stephanie is NOT certified in the management of Lymphedema. She can only work on people who have intact lymphatic systems and may not work on those who have had lymph nodes removed.
